  Some time ago we observed a problem with FFmpeg and issued a acorresponding ticket:

  This forced us to introduce a workaround in bs1770gain. Meanwhile the problem in FFmpeg seems to be gone and the workaround is not needed
  any longer.
  
  This beta-release rolls back the corresponding workaround affecting options -a/--apply.
